Efficient Ways to De-clutter Before a Big Move

Moving house can be a stressful and very detailed process, as there is so much to sort out. Packing is one of the major things that you have to get done before your move, and this alone can be time consuming and cumbersome. The last thing you want to do is end up having to pack items that you don’t even want or need. Not only will this take up unnecessary time but they will also take up unnecessary room at your new property.

With this in mind, it is always a good idea to plan in advance and look at de-cluttering before you move home. You will be surprised at just how much stuff you may have to get rid of and how much time you can save when it comes to packing. You may find everything from electrical items to kitchenware, clothing, toys, and more that you want to get rid of. You will also find that there are various ways in which you can get rid of these items.

The de-cluttering process

When you are planning your packing, take the time to list any items that you don’t want to keep. Based on the type and condition of these items, you can then decide how best to get rid of them. This could include options such as:

• Sell them: You could make some cash out of your unwanted items if they are in good enough condition. Consider listing them on eBay, as although you might not want them there may be plenty that do – and will be prepared to pay.

• Recycle them: With many items, you can get them recycled such as old phones, electrical gadgets and similar items. Many companies now offer recycling facilities and again you could make some money in some instances.

• Donate them: Another thing you can do with items such as books, toys and clothing is to donate them. Plenty of charities are crying out for items in decent condition so you can de-clutter and do you bit for charity.

These are just some of the simple and effective ways in which you can de-clutter before your move.
