Keeping Your Internet and TV When Moving

Moving house is stressful enough with the physical moving of your furniture and possessions; therefore, it is hardly surprising that moving your household services can slip your mind. The key to successfully moving your TV and internet services is planning ahead of time so that you are not without access for a prolonged period.

ISP Coverage – is it as good?

When it comes to your internet service provider (ISP), one of the first things you will want to check before even thinking about home removals is whether your new area will offer the same broadband speed as where you live now. If this is not the case, consider looking at alternate options – now is the ideal time to review your current package. Calling your ISP and asking about coverage is the quickest way to do this, although some providers have a calculator on their websites that enable you to find out expected internet performance based on a postcode.

If you decide to switch providers, be prepared to pay a cancellation fee with your current ISP, unless you are coming to the end of your contract. If you are changing ISP, ensure you let your new one know your moving date as soon as possible so that connection is not delayed.

TV Packages

The same applies for TV services. Many digital services are packaged with internet these days, making the moving process for both a whole lot easier. If you are using a service such as Sky, you will also need to find out whether your new house has a satellite dish – if not, booking an engineer to fit one should be top of your list when it comes to home removals. If there is already a dish present, and providing you have notified Sky as to your moving date, it should be easy to set up this service by yourself once you plug the Sky box in and ensure it is connected to the dish.
