Tips for Decluttering your Home

Decluttering your home can seem like a daunting task but it doesn’t have to be. With the right steps, you can easily sort items into categories and help charitable organisations along the way.

Here’s How

Tackle one room or space at a time and place items into boxes. One box should be for things you want to keep, another for items to get rid of and lastly one for charity. As you look at each item, think about how long you’ve had it, when you last used it and if it would benefit someone else more than it does you gathering dust in your home. It can be so easy to get attached to something but the trick here is to be as realistic as you can and remember that by decluttering your home, you’re going to be paving the way to a more relaxed space.

Once you’ve filled the keep box, you can empty it again by neatly placing these things into their new spaces around your home. With the box you intend to get rid of, you can have a tabletop sale, a car boot if the weather permits or you can take them to your local recycling centre. Your charity box can be given to someone you know who is in need of the items you’ve found, a local school or hospital or a favourite charity shop.

Many charity shops will even offer to collect these items for you so you don’t have to worry about going anywhere.

Decluttering room by room is by far the most efficient way to declutter your home and organise your space. You’ll also be able to see the results of your hard work as soon as you’ve finished and you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment with each room once it’s complete.

However, you can also hire a storage unit at Gallagher’s Removals, if you want to keep items safe!
