What to Consider When Moving Office

So, the time has come to expand your business but in order to do so, you need larger premises. This probably means you will have to move offices, and that can be a daunting task. However, if you have a checklist of things to do and you are organised enough, you should be able to complete the task with minimal disruption to you, your staff and your business. Here are some things to consider when you are planning an office move.

1 – Timing is Everything

You need to time it efficiently so that you lose as little business time as possible. Many people move their offices over the weekend or during the days they are closed. Talk to your removal company about after hours moving to make it easier.

2 – Furniture and machinery

Depending on the type of business you own or operate, you may have some heavy equipment to move. Let’s suppose you are a printing company, you will have printing and lithographic machinery to move and you will need a specialist company for that. If your office has a copier, fax machine, computers, networking room and other heavy machinery you should speak to a specialist company for that too.
Furniture for offices can often be large and may need dismantling. Your reception desk, for instance, may be in two or three parts, and you will need a professional moving company who understands how to dismantle and reassemble all office furniture.

3 – Utilities and Services

One of the most important things to change when moving office is your utilities and services. You will need to give your gas, electric and water company plenty of notice and advise phone companies and such within plenty of time in order to not leave you stranded without phones on the first day back.
Being prepared is vital, so make a list, check it and check it again. Always get confirmation in writing from your removal company and the utility companies.
